I'm drowning in medical equipment!
There's so much to catch up on I barely know where to start.
I've been making about a zillion trips to the physical therapist at OHSU lately. I currently don't have one here (my old one left me to start his own practice in Boise, and while I totally understand he had to leave, it left me high and dry, especially when physical therapists are needed to prescribe everything, from wheelchairs to the standing frame I have been trying to get for three years.) Actually, that's why I went to OHSU. I needed a new standing frame prescription and MDA would pay for one PT appointment...
Well, Lucynda, the PT at OHSU wanted me to get these heavy duty ankle braces...add more appointments and trips to Portland. My braces were approved within a week. Crazy, huh? Considering my lengthy wait for everthing else I hav needed (I waited a year and a half to get a wheelchair...)
The only problem is they hurt. My ankle muscle are so tight. I don't wear them often. I need to talk with Lucynda to find ways to untighten my muscles. The bracemaker recommended botox. It supposedly relaxes muscles and maybe they won't have wrinkles!
I don't know. I want to weigh the risks first.
But the braces help. And they aren't too bad eyesore-wise.
I will set up an appointment after I get home from Phoenix. (I am flying to Phoenix next weekend to see friends. Maybe I'll even run into Stephenie Meyer. I've been kind of obsessed with her books lately. I want to buy and read The Host. I just have about a billion other books to read. But I digress...More about Phoenix later.)
I also got another really cool piece of medical equipment this week, this lift. It's really cool. It fits in my room. I can now get on the floor! I also need to ask for exercises I can do on the floor. The inventor came to install it. The guy was so sweet. He just seems like a generally nice guy He has taken a pay cut to make lifts, but he feels it is important to do this. He said whenever he needed money, God has provided. I feel so blessed!
I am still figuring it all out, but my new spoils are cool. I can't wait to figure out how to make everything work to my advantage.

Have you gotten The Host yet? If not, I'll let you borrow mine! Just let me know! Email.
