Oh, the paradox of it all!
I saw this blog a few days ago.
It voices some of my confused opinions about help vs. unwanted help.
I don't know why, but the general public is weird about people with disabilities. Peo[ple tend to just stare or do what they think is "helpful." (actually, my mom does it all the time. She gets mad at me if I get mad at her for grabbing me in places I don't want her. I have yet to figure out what in her twisted mind tells her that however she "helps" is the best way without consulting me, but whatever. Most of the time I just deal with it because it turns into a fight if I say something an nothing gets accomplished.)
I think "do-gooders" should ask if help] is needed and what they can do to help before they barge in.
Just ask.
Most disabled people know the best way to deal with things.
Don't assume that you know best because you are able-bodied.
